About the Opportunity

We are looking for full-time Heavy Duty Mechanics (shop and field) to join our team in Strathmore and Fort McMurray, AB:

  • Work in the shop from April to September (Strathmore)
  • Work in the field from October to March (Fort McMurray)

You will be responsible for working with a maintenance team to maintain a fleet of more than 120 units.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing equipment problems and determining repairs as needed
  • Adjusting equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts
  • Testing repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Servicing attachments and working tools
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy personal work area and assisting with general cleaning duties in a workshop environment
  • Maintaining a daily record of all work tasks and materials
  • Demonstrating continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes

About You

To qualify, you will need 2-5 years of experience, a valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract. A Class 1 or Class 3 license will be considered an asset.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Experience as a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Skilled in ordering and procuring parts required for equipment repair and maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance and repair methods, materials, and equipment used in heavy equipment and power-driven tools, including big trucks, generators, loaders, and boilers
  • Competent in operating a wide range of tools and equipment necessary for repairing heavy equipment
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports related to equipment maintenance and repair activities
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve mechanical failures
  • Highly motivated and punctual with a self-starting attitude
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Willingness to work out of town and on weekends as required
  • Physical capability to handle weights of up to 50 lbs
  • Possession of a CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) license (asset)
