About the Opportunity
We are looking for multiple full-time Mud Rotary and Sonic Drillers to join our team in Strathmore and Fort McMurray, AB.
Note: This position is seasonal and follows a rotation of 3 weeks on and 1 week off, with 12-hour shifts.
Your primary responsibility will be to operate drilling machinery and equipment while overseeing drilling operations. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Operating drilling equipment, such as rotary drills, mud pumps, and hoisting equipment, following established procedures and safety guidelines
- Monitoring drilling progress and making necessary adjustments to ensure efficient and productive operations
- Conducting and documenting pre-drilling checks and inspections to ensure equipment remains in optimal condition; promptly reporting malfunctions or issues to the supervisor
- Collaborating with the drilling team to ensure adherence to drilling plans, safety protocols, and environmental regulations
- Leading the setup and dismantling of drilling rigs and associated equipment
- Performing routine maintenance tasks on drilling equipment, including lubrication, filter changes, and minor repairs
- Communicating effectively with team members and clients, facilitating a smooth workflow and timely project completion
- Maintaining accurate records of drilling activities, equipment usage, and inventory levels
- Adhering to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies to maintain a secure working environment
- Demonstrating strong leadership as a team leader and guiding the rig crew
- Prioritizing attention to detail for precise execution of drilling tasks and operations
- Providing mentorship and fostering the growth of team members
- Excelling in both the mechanics of drilling and administrative skills, including documentation and paperwork
- Managing administrative tasks and paperwork efficiently
- Adapting to various weather conditions and exposure to the elements during drilling operations
About You
To qualify, you will need to have preferably 2 years of experience as a driller in the oil and gas industry (specifically core hole drilling operations), and a valid driver's license with a clean abstract (Preference given to Class 3 and Class 1 drivers).

- Strong technical aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving operational issues
- Deep understanding of safety procedures with a consistent focus on prioritizing safety
- Physical fitness and endurance for challenging weather conditions and manual labour
- Detail-oriented mindset, emphasizing accuracy and precision
- Independent work ethic, demonstrating reliability and self-motivation
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and flexible hours
- In-depth industry knowledge of drilling equipment, techniques, and standards
- Advanced problem-solving skills, even under pressure
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for positive relationships
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and compliance with regulations and policies
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications and digital software tools for safety documentation, employee status, and equipment work orders
- Possession of valid oil field tickets, including First Line Blowout prevention (willing to train suitable candidates)
- Willingness to travel as required by the job
- Expertise in coring geotechnical drilling and rig operations
- Exceptional leadership, mentor and training qualities
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, paperwork, and drilling mechanics
