Responsibilities:
As a HSE Field Advisor at Big Country Drilling, your primary responsibilities will be to collaborate with management and safety teams to maintain compliance and assist in the mentorship of a strong safety culture. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Mastery knowledge of the safety program.
- Actively participating in safety program development and maintenance by leading and participating in hazard assessment details, facilitating safety meetings, and assisting with Job Safety Audits and Gap Analysis Assessments as required.
- Participate in all training required or offered to you by the employer on or off the worksite.
- Facilitate OHS&E training for all the site employees which includes conducting required training for new or previously employed personnel.
- Oversee employee competency program.
- Oversee use or training (if applicable) of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct company safety orientations for new hires.
- Responsible for maintaining all safety documentation, SDS Upgrades, Procedural and Manual upgrades, and updates.
- Know the location, type and operation of emergency equipment and the Company’s Emergency Action Plans.
- Comply with all rules set out by the Company, law enforcement agencies and regulatory committees at all times, staying current on emerging legislation and informing business of its impact.
- Coordinate and manage an active drug and alcohol program.
- Participates in the project start-up meetings and ensures an absolute understanding of all topics discussed.
- Lead and/or participate in the completion of detailed incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis and the development and follow-up of corrective actions.
- Review safety paperwork completed by staff, to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the management and maintenance of the SiteDocs program.
- Conduct and document site visits to verify compliance with established health and safety requirements.
- Inform HSE Manager of any problems and/or concerns.
- Maintain environmental and safety statistics and reporting as required: Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Work with rig managers direction of safe work plans and SJPs.
- Transportation compliance.
- Actively participate and understand BBS safety program.
- Approve/complete the safety section of client-based work packages.
- Your role as a Health & Safety Field Advisor is defined as a “Safety Sensitive position.” When a client directly or by contract, requires testing in additional situations, Big Country Drilling may require Random drug and alcohol testing assigned to that site as a condition of access to that customer’s property and as a condition of ongoing work on that property.
- Promotion of and participation in the Behavior-Based Observation Program to meet client and BCD targets.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:- Have or are working towards National Construction Safety Officer Status (NCSO) or University Certificate/Diploma
- Incident Investigation Training
- Experience in the drilling industry is an asset
- Standard First Aid CPR/AED
- H2S Alive
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
